PLM: Material Color - Material Color Notes: Use Case & How to Use
In Material Color section of a PLM Material Profile, there is a column called "Material Color Notes."
Use Case:
The intention of this tool is to capture notes about colors that relate specifically to the material in that color.
This information:
- DOES NOT POPULATE ON BOMS.
- CAN POPULATE ON BOM DESIGN REPORTS.
How to Use:
1. Identify the Material Profile you will be working in.

2. Click the Material "Colors" Tab & ensure the material has a material color associated with it.

3. Once in the Material Colors section, go to the column that reads "Material Color Notes." Here you can free type you notes.
These notes can be in relation to the material in that specific color, or the material hand feel in that specific color.
Some notation examples are:
- Color & handfeel notes.
- When you have accepted an SMS color that is “off standard.”
- When struggling with achieving a color (e.g. Have gone through 5 rounds of lab dip submits, have picked best option.)
- When S/Y came out darker than color card standard (e.g. It is mill color #512 but reconfirm lot#.. if we proceed into production, follow S/Y lot color not stock color.)
- When we will never achieve full saturation of black color due to content (nylon for example.)
- When we ordered 2 rolls of fabric (2 separate dye lots) and we preferred dye color lot#1 (dated XYZ [first lot].)
- When we accepted a L/D, but the L/D does not match standard.
