PLM: Material - How to Create a Material (Basic Direction for all Material Types)

Please follow below steps in order to create a Material in PLM.

Before Beginning: Ensure the material DOES NOT YET EXIST IN PLM. If material does exist in PLM and information needs to be updated, please go to seperate SOP (PLM: Material - How to Update a Material.)

Steps to take:

Once you have checked to ensure the material DOES NOT exist in PLM, follow below steps.

1. Click: Materials

2. Once in the Material Library, click "New Material" and select the Material Type you would like to create.

3. Once you select the "Material Type" you will be brought to a "blank material profile." Here, you will need to fill out as much information as possible.

Please note ALL MANDATORY FIELDS have a red asterisk next to the field name (like below.) You must fill these fields out in order to create & save the new material.

4. Once all mandatory fields are filled out, click "CREATE" (at the top right of the screen) and the material will have been created.

Congratulations, you have created a new material in PLM.
